The Backward Vendor does not rely on or look to current trends, we look to traditional craft, to traditional techniques, to handmade process and to design.

Our design concept is rooted in the everyday life; work, leisure, travel history, our world. We design and create quality handmade leather shoes, bags, garments and homeware using only raw and naturally dyed materials.

Our collections are made with the greatest care; with the purpose of guiding, informing and introducing the art of handmade, and the perfect imperfections of leather.

Our studio is situated in Hackney, London, primarily functioning as a showroom and leather workshop space.

We use our showroom to display goods for sale all year round, ranging from limited edition shoes displaying special techniques to showpieces, these inspired by various periods of time and occupations.
